Google is rolling out Android 17 to compatible Pixel phones, with additional exclusive features as part of the June Pixel Drop. The update includes Screen Reactions, which make it easy to record selfie video while screen-recording. Foldables are also getting new gaming controls that display a touchscreen gamepad on the bottom half of the display. Various expanded parental controls and security features are also included in the update. Additionally, Android 17 introduces 'Continue On', a feature that allows users to start a task on their Android phone and continue it on a compatible tablet.
Exclusive Pixel Features
Pixel phones are getting exclusive features, including the new Gemini Omni model, which allows users to create video from text prompts. Lyria 3 also enables users to create music from text prompts. AirDrop support through Quick Share is expanding to the Pixel 8A and 9A, and Voice Translate for phone calls is coming to the 10A. Take a Message will now be available on every Pixel from the 6 onward, except in India, where it's still limited to the 10 series only.
Android XR and Wear OS
The Project Aura glasses collaboration between Xreal and Google, now dubbed the Xreal Aura, is available for reservation for $99, with a full launch expected this Fall. The Xreal Aura follows Google's first Android-powered XR device, the Samsung Galaxy XR headset, which launched at $1,799 in October 2025.
