The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport X replaces the E-Ray, utilizing a new V8 engine and software-driven performance adjustments to offer a more aggressive driving experience.

Chevrolet has introduced the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X, a new hybrid model that succeeds the discontinued E-Ray. While the vehicle retains much of the E-Ray's hardware, it features a new 6.7L LS6 V8 engine and an upgraded electric motor. Lead development engineer Keith Badgley noted that the vehicle relies on revised software and predictive algorithms to improve handling and power delivery compared to its predecessor.

Performance and Engineering Upgrades

The Grand Sport X produces 721 horsepower, representing a 66-hp increase over the E-Ray. The new LS6 V8 engine provides 40 more horsepower and 50 more lb-ft of torque than the previous model, while the front electric motor adds 186 horsepower. Despite these changes, the car utilizes the same dampers, springs, and bars as the E-Ray. Engineers revised the software controlling the adaptive suspension, stability control, and electronic differential to create a sharper, more balanced feel in corners. The system uses the front electric motor to pull the car through turns, mitigating the understeer often associated with all-wheel-drive vehicles.

Interior and Pricing

The Grand Sport X features a redesigned interior that removes the previous button-heavy layout in favor of a 12.7-inch touchscreen and an open center console. Standard equipment includes carbon-ceramic brakes, Magnetic Ride Control, and a widebody design, with optional carbon fiber wheels available. The non-hybrid Grand Sport starts at $88,495, while the Grand Sport X hybrid model begins at $112,195.
