Musicians Aaron Rowe and Beoga have exited Ed Sheeran's North American tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was removed following his public support for Palestine.

Irish singer Aaron Rowe and the band Beoga have withdrawn as supporting acts for Ed Sheeran’s 'The Loop' North American tour. Their departures follow the removal of rapper Macklemore from the tour lineup, which occurred after he expressed support for Palestine during performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4 and 5.

Reasons for Macklemore's Removal

Ed Sheeran’s tour promoter, Messina Touring Group, stated that venues on the upcoming U.S. tour notified them that they would not allow concerts to proceed with Macklemore on the lineup, citing concerns that the tour would otherwise face cancellations. Macklemore alleged that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft pressured other stadium owners to issue an ultimatum to Sheeran regarding his participation. Sheeran stated that he attempted to mediate the situation with venues and promoters throughout the week but was unsuccessful. He noted that the venues' decision was based on the manner in which Macklemore conveyed his message during his performances.

Statements from Departing Artists

In an Instagram post, Aaron Rowe stated that he could not remain on the tour while billionaires used their power to silence voices speaking against the situation in Gaza. Rowe, who had been a support act since June, emphasized his personal connection to Ed Sheeran but stated he needed to remain true to his principles and his Irish heritage. The band Beoga also announced their departure, citing their commitment as founding members of the Irish Artists for Palestine movement. Both acts expressed that their decision was made in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and their understanding of colonialism.
