While Jesus initially denied any rift, Ronaldo stated he decided to leave after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

Coach's Response and Team Changes

Ahead of Thursday's match against Denmark, coach Jorge Jesus addressed the media, stating there was no incident regarding Ronaldo's benching against Norway. Jesus explained that he had informed the forward he would not start, and later decided against bringing him on as a substitute. The coach noted that Ronaldo performed individual mobility and strengthening exercises on Tuesday rather than joining the full group, but insisted he expected the player to return to normal training.
