Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad leaders met in Cairo to demand a full Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza as the Israeli military reported killing two Hamas commanders in recent strikes.

A Hamas delegation led by West Bank leader Zaher Jabarin met with Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) secretary-general Ziyad al-Nakhalah in Cairo. The two groups issued a joint statement emphasizing the necessity of ending the Israeli military offensive and achieving a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Strategic Discussions in Cairo

According to a statement released by Hamas on its Telegram channel, the meeting focused on the broader regional situation, including developments in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem. The groups discussed what they described as accelerated Judaisation operations and the treatment of Palestinian prisoners. Both organizations called for the development of joint action and unified national positions. They stated that these efforts are intended to protect the Palestinian people and restore their rights.

Israeli Military Reports Commander Deaths

Separately, the Israeli military announced the deaths of two Hamas commanders during air strikes conducted on Friday and Saturday. The military stated that Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, a commander in the Maghazi Battalion, was killed in central Gaza on Friday. On Saturday, Israeli forces reported the death of Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad in southern Gaza. The military identified Abu Labad as a cell commander in Hamas’s Nukhba special forces and alleged that he participated in the October 2023 attack.
