Melissa Rauch guest stars as a 60-foot, demon version of her 'The Big Bang Theory' character in the third episode of the new series.

Melissa Rauch makes a guest appearance in the third episode of the HBO Max series "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe." In the episode, titled "Spoiler: Bert Is Magic," Rauch reprises her role as Bernadette Rostenkowski, but portrays a demonic, 60-foot-tall version of the character who attempts to rule the universe. The episode features several actors from "The Big Bang Theory," including Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, John Ross Bowie, and Wil Wheaton.

Plot of the Episode

The episode follows Bert, who discovers he possesses magical powers in this alternate universe, such as the ability to turn regular soda into Diet Coke. Stuart and his companions seek help from Bernadette, a "master sorceress," to repair their teleportation machine. However, Wil Wheaton warns the group that Bernadette is actually a demon. Bernadette eventually transforms into a giant monster and destroys a miniature version of Pasadena before the group manages to escape.

Rauch on the Role

Rauch stated that she was approached for the role by Chuck Lorre, who described the character as a different version of Bernadette. She noted that the role allowed her to explore an "edge" to the character that was previously established, but amplified to a demonic level. To film the scenes where her character is giant, Rauch utilized motion capture technology and interacted with a miniature model of Pasadena.
