Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been moved from Adiala Jail to a hospital in Islamabad for medical examinations following a Supreme Court order.

Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was transferred from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad early Friday. The move follows a Supreme Court order issued earlier this week requiring authorities to provide Khan with access to a medical panel, including his personal physician.

Medical Concerns and Court Ruling

Khan's legal team has reported that his health has deteriorated during his imprisonment, specifically citing a significant loss of vision in his right eye. While the government maintains that medical reports have not identified any conditions requiring immediate treatment, the Supreme Court mandated his transfer to the hospital within 48 hours of their Tuesday ruling.

Political Context and Future Protests

The transfer is viewed as a potential step toward easing tensions between Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and the country's military establishment, which have been in conflict since Khan's 2022 ouster.
