A Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli forces following a car-ramming attack that left an Israeli soldier seriously wounded.

Israeli forces shot and killed 29-year-old Mahmoud Mohammed Mahmoud Suleiman on Wednesday at the Maccabim checkpoint near Ramallah. The Israeli military stated that Suleiman carried out a car-ramming attack against a police patrol, which resulted in serious injuries to a soldier identified as Neria Leiter, the son of Israel's ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter.

The incident occurred on Route 443 at the Maccabim checkpoint, also known as Beit Ur. Israeli police reported that a vehicle struck a member of a patrol, who was later confirmed to be a soldier participating in a joint operation. Following the shooting, Israeli forces closed the checkpoint and restricted movement at other locations in the Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate. Reports indicate that Israeli forces withheld the body of the deceased and blocked Palestinian ambulances from accessing the scene.

The attack occurred amid ongoing instability in the occupied West Bank. On the same day, residents near Ramallah reported that Israeli military bulldozers uprooted olive trees in groves near the village of Deir Nizam. Landowners stated that the destruction affected nearly 9 acres of land, occurring shortly before the annual October olive harvest. Additionally, local sources reported that groups of Israeli settlers threw stones at Palestinian vehicles near the settlement of Shilo, though no serious damage was recorded.
