The couple, who first met in Sydney in March 2020, chose the location because of the bride's family history as a cousin of the current Earl of Erne. Relationship and Proposal

After meeting in Sydney in early 2020, the couple navigated a long-distance relationship during the initial Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Casper Ettelson proposed to Serena Wardell in June 2024 while the couple was on vacation in Mallorca, Spain. The proposal took place in a private courtyard in the village of Deià after a planned outdoor dinner was moved due to high winds.

Wedding Planning and Details

The couple selected Crom Castle for their wedding after visiting the site together in 2022. According to Casper Ettelson, the event was designed to reflect their personal relationship, interests, and aesthetic preferences. Serena Wardell personally created the wedding stationery, which included drink menus, postcards, playing cards, and name cards. The couple encountered minor logistical challenges while planning the wedding from Australia, including an issue with 150 matchboxes that remained unfilled on the morning of the ceremony. Serena Wardell noted that these moments served as a reminder to embrace the imperfections of planning an event from another country.
