The service is currently available in preview on iOS and is being introduced alongside Snap’s new augmented reality glasses, also called Specs. Snap describes the tool as an anticipatory service that aims to help users track priorities and goals.

Functionality and Integration

Specs Intelligence connects to apps such as Gmail and Slack to build an understanding of a user's routines, goals, and relationships. The service is designed to surface relevant information without requiring a prompt, such as highlighting meeting preparations or consolidating travel itineraries. When used with Snap’s AR glasses, the AI can display personal content directly in the user's field of view.

Data Privacy and Model Architecture

The assistant utilizes a proprietary combination of open-source models hosted in the U.S. alongside local large language models. Snap spokesperson Cassie Bumgarner stated that the company regularly updates this mixture of models. Regarding privacy, Snap claims it cannot view or access the personal content processed by the tool and stated that data from connected accounts will not be used to train its AI models or serve personalized advertisements.
