Violence intensified in the occupied West Bank on Sunday as a suspected Palestinian gunman shot and killed an Israeli man near the Neve Tzuf settlement. Shortly thereafter, Israeli soldiers reported killing a Palestinian driver who they stated attempted a car-ramming attack near the Ganim settlement. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu subsequently ordered security agencies to increase forces and conduct offensive operations in the region.

Fatal Incidents and Security Response

The shooting near Neve Tzuf occurred when a gunman fired from a vehicle at Israelis gathered at a spring. The victim was found with critical gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Police reported that the suspect was located and arrested at a hospital in Ramallah hours later. Hamas praised the attack but did not claim responsibility. In the northern West Bank, the military stated that its forces killed a driver near Ganim, an area that was evacuated in 2005 and saw settlers return in August. No soldiers were reported injured in that incident, though the military's account could not be immediately verified.

Military Restrictions and Raids

The Israeli military has implemented tightened security measures across the West Bank ahead of the Yom Kippur holiday. In the northern Jordan Valley, the closure of the Tayasir and Ein Shibli checkpoints prevented 104 teachers from reaching their schools, disrupting classes for approximately 1,100 students. Separately, Israeli forces raided the village of Al-Mughayyir east of Ramallah, deploying infantry, vehicles, and a drone to search homes and arrest dozens of Palestinians. The raid and the closure of the village's main entrance prevented residents from reaching their workplaces and schools.
