Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her Unraveled Tour on September 25 in Hartford, Connecticut, showcasing a series of theatrical costumes designed to reflect the themes of her third studio album, 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.' The tour, which supports the album released in June, utilizes stage design and costume changes to narrate the stages of a relationship.

The Dissolving Dress Performance

A highlight of the opening night occurred during the performance of the song “The Cure.” Rodrigo wore a custom white dress designed by Hussein Chalayan, constructed from water-soluble fabric. As a rain effect was activated on stage, the outer layer of the dress disintegrated, revealing a vibrant red minidress underneath. Stylists Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, who worked on the tour, referred to the piece as the “unraveled dress.” Chalayan is noted for his history with water-soluble designs, having previously showcased similar technology at Paris Fashion Week in 2015.

Signature Style and Tour Wardrobe

Throughout the concert, Rodrigo’s wardrobe blended her signature coquette-meets-punk aesthetic with new elements. Her looks included Dr. Martens knee-high leather boots paired with feminine dresses, as well as Wolford tights. Other notable outfits featured a purple leather minidress from R&M Leathers worn with a choker, and a white babydoll dress, identified as a custom version of Dilara Findikoglu’s 'The Girl in a Room' dress, worn during the song “Drop Dead.” For the encore, the singer transitioned into a simpler ensemble consisting of a white tank top and low-rise jeans.
