Microsoft has launched Mythic Achievements, a new system for Xbox that rewards players for completing all original achievements in a game, similar to PlayStation's platinum trophies.

Microsoft has officially unveiled Mythic Achievements, a new feature for Xbox consoles that recognizes players who complete every original achievement in a game. The system is currently available for testing through the Xbox Insider program. These achievements are retroactive, meaning players may find that games they have already fully completed in the past are automatically updated to Mythic status.

How Mythic Achievements Work

Mythic Achievements are earned by unlocking all original achievements for a specific title. The company confirmed that achievements added later through downloadable content or game updates do not affect a player's Mythic status, ensuring that once the status is earned, it remains with the player. The feature includes a visual "heroic frame" to distinguish these milestones. To help players track their progress, Xbox is adding a new progress bar to the top of each game's achievement list. This tool allows users to see how close they are to reaching Mythic status and provides an option to focus on the specific original achievements they have yet to unlock.

Profile Integration and Availability

The new system is integrated into a dedicated Gaming tab within user profiles, which also tracks Gamerscore milestones. This tab allows users to view their own progress and check the status of friends' game completions. The retroactive nature of the program extends support back to titles from the Xbox 360 era. While the feature is currently limited to members of the Xbox Insider program, it follows a recent tease by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma regarding the development of a platinum trophy equivalent. The program was also briefly spotted in an earlier leak within the Xbox PC app.
